Lincoln Parish Park, Ruston, LA Surprisingly, this park is located quite close to a housing development. We did feel isolated from civilization. We'd arrived at the park close to sunset. We set up camp and made out first meal on the road. Sonny was a little bit nervous. He settlled into camping life pretty easy. We believe that Sonny just like being this close to us for 24/7. One of the other campers had these flamingoes up in their campsite. This photo was taken on the second day of our trip through the Deep South. We were still at Lincoln Parish Park, Ruston, LA.
In the early morning, RW took Sonny for a long hike on the trails while I was still sleeping. The lake at this park had a long dock. RW threw a stick for Sonny, so Sonny would be able to run off the dock and jump into the lake. This was Sonny's first swim of this trip. Alison Chains on Flickr: Posted a Photo

Our tent set up. We had a lot of fun sleeping in the tent. We would go into the tent after the sun set to hide from the mosquitos. We would play dominos. We played one long game during the whole trip. Rod won the game. |
